After one
minute it is clear for me that these guys manage to perform impelling,
highly melodic and powerful Black Metal. The optical impression
is awesome; the cover is chastely but very impressive.
Concerning music COR SCORPII enthuse completely, may it
be the continuous absorbing arrangements, the sharp guitar fusillades
or intensely screeched vocals – from the first minute on
the band plays in real intoxication! Consequently the first two
songs Ei Fane Svart and in particular Endesong are
direct hits. Fortunately the artists do not only set their focus
on merciless speed, but integrate some borne and anthem-like moments.
The atmosphere reaches astronomic heights on the goose pimps scale,
when decent keyboards support the double bass thunder. The track
I, The Damned underlines the embossed aspect in the Norwegians’
sound cosmos and during the course of this epic work some heroic
chords come to the fore. In the middle part the speed is throttled
and a piano interplay shows up as effective breather, ere driving
drums and guitar flashes take on the lead.
It is hard to believe that this is the debut album after just
one demo recording, because COR SCORPII do not decrease
concerning surprises. Convenient strings boost the fantastic Helvetesfossen
which can pass on vocals without loosing any quality. In the epic
and overlong sound monster Oske Og Innsikt COR SCORPII
let breathe their nice ideas even more; hissing vocals, very fast
but not chaotic double bass attacks, anthem-like choirs and calm
interludes go hand in hand and contribute the title “very
worth listening” to this composition. Over and above the
musicians did not forget about some catchy parts. Monument
is concluded by a track called Bradger I Stein showing
up with some Folk influences marking a dignified ending of an
album full of ideas.
COR SCORPII create powerful, intense and convincing music,
ignite a real storm of sentiments and fascinate with an adept
sound tempest – a real musical Monument!
