Overgrowing Human Void is the second album of the band CIBORIUM from Portugal. They play death metal with melodic elements and sound a little like Dan Swanö-era Edge of Sanity. The album contains 10 songs and is about 40 minutes long. The opener Shadowalk surely is the best song on this CD as it contains a perfect mixture of clean vocals and melodies with raw death parts. Another very good song is Skyshaper, even though it sounds quite the same. The guitar work is quite good, too, and the vocal work always fits the music, while some drum parts tend to get on my nerves. (I guess that’s a matter of taste) However, I think that towards the end of this album the songs get weaker and sound too much alike, as if the band did not have enough good song material left. That’s a pity, because otherwise the (too short, anyway) album could have been quite a blast! Anyway, I’m pretty sure we’ll hear more from them in the future, as they are on the right way.
