BYFROST
perform a mixture of Black and Thrash Metal. From the beginning,
they can enthuse with their fulminant and well produced sound.
Of course, the music is not really inventive no more than the
band’s name, but the impelling rhythms and measure changes
right in time are irresistible.
The opening
track Horns To The Sky conjures a live atmosphere with
its Immortal-vibes and dirty Rock’n’Roll grooves.
Afterwards, the musicians throttle the speed during the title
track and sound like Abbath’s little brother band.
BYFROST avoid all too irritating experiments and let the
monumental grooves speak for themselves. Consequently, the compositions
meander in elegant, powerful and melodic style through the auditory
canals and find their way to the listener’s heart. Interim,
the group appeals to the melodic taste with interspersed guitar
solos, but in all the immortal pounding monster groove reigns
supreme. During the track Lord Victorious, the troop strides
faster without forgetting about hymnal guitar work. The stoic
but intense galloping piece Desire features a floating
lead, ere one of the compositional highlights named Wings Of
The Angel Of Death follows. The multilayer build-up and the
slightly changing rhythms take the listener’s interest.
The concluding track Skull Of God also sounds felicitously,
because BYFROST manage to integrate an overwhelming acoustic
part. Afterwards the intensity rises, ere the composition dies
away in calm manner.
In all, the
inspiration of BYFROST is very obvious, so that this output
lacks of inventiveness, but the songs’ presentation as well
as the mighty instrumentation demand respect. That’s the
reason why Black Earth finally is sweeping away
all considerations concerning missing independence to gleam as
pitch-black, mighty colossus with a lot of energy!
