Behind this Finish quintet one will find some known names, whereas Niko Karpinnen (ex Legenda) should be the most familiar one. Anyway, these gents are old enough to make their enthusiasm for 80’s Thrash metal authentic.
And that’s exactly what the listener gets offered on the second demo release Bloodridden Disease: powerful, extremely retro sounding 80’s influenced Thrash metal. Paragons are found fast: the first releases of bands such as Slayer, Exodus and Anthrax, also California based Sacrilege cross my mind. The first thing that strikes me – compared to the debut demo Taste Of Bloodride (2003) – singing has improved a lot. Instead of whining, they kick asses with proper Thrash shouting, slightly tending to growls. All tracks are fast, crunchy and short, the numbers of riffs are limited on a necessary amount. The band rather focuses on leaving a skull-splitting impression.
While doing so they mostly succeed, although one might get the feeling of having listened to many of the stuff. But altogether it doesn’t carry weight that negatively. Bloodridden Disease leaves a fresh and spontaneous impression. Tracks like Killing The Silence, Forbid and the more solemn Reckoning Day are absolutely able to create a warm feeling in the chest of nostalgic fans (that hopefully doesn’t come from twisted thoracic vertebra …)
Since the rest of the songs and the production can keep the standard, fans of traditional Thrash should grab a copy. And, thinking about the revival-wave I wouldn’t wonder that much if BLOODRIDE soon secure a deal.
