BLIND EGO is the solo project of RPWL guitarist Kalle Wallner. Together with several guest musicians including former Arena vocalist Paul Wrightson and keyboarder Clive Nolan he delivers an album which strongly reminds of a mixture of Pallas and psychedelic rock as played by the early Pink Floyd. However, that is about all I can say about this album as it does not really appeal to me. The songs often sound quite similar and some beautiful moments every now and then can not hide the fact that Mirror is just another over-produced side project which does not reach the quality and uniqueness of the main band. The guitar work is quite nice, however, and it seems that Kalle Wallner was quite ambitious about this project. Anyway, it does not feel like a bands work and this desolate impression unfortunately prevents me from comparing it to the works of the well-known guest musicians involved in the project. This kind of pseudo-intellectual solo album simply is not my piece of cake. Judge for yourself, whether you like it or not.
