Texas isn’t necessarily a place you would think of when it comes to death metal. BLASPHERIAN however, is going to change that. Surprisingly, BLASPHERIAN have only been around since 2004, with a couple splits and an EP under their belts, Infernal Warriors Of Death is their first full length release.

As the first song The Disgrace Of God kicks in it is clear that we are in for some serious Satanic death metal. BLASPHERIAN comes across sounding between Immolation and Arch Goat. The music has that slow death metal groove that can change course within an instant. The vocals of Lord Apollyon are gutterly growled like a corpse from a grave. Very old school death metal here. Wes Infernal’s guitars are tuned so low it could shake a tomb. With a sinister tone and that familiar old school crunching it creates a malicious punch to the music. The drums are heavy on the double bass, which doesn’t sound triggered either. Matt Mayhem’s quite impressive drumming showcases drum techniques that seem to be lost from present day death metal. The title track of the album embodies everything that satanic death metal should be. With its evil riffs to its lyrics of satanic praise growled out in demonic vocals, to its ever changing death drum beats. Invoking Abomination is another earth shattering display of satanic death grooved chaos. The album is over all too soon as Exalted In Unspeakable Evil closes the door to the beyond. I haven’t heard an album this brutally intense from a newer death metal band in years. BLASPHERIAN is keeping the soul of true old school death metal alive. Sounding as if they have come from the 1990s rather than the 2000s. Infernal Warriors Of Death stands as a testament that there is still fire within death metal in the year 2011.
