Slow and deliberate, but just as fiercely determined and purposeful, the warrior walks his path and ASCIA realize their musical vision accordingly. Rumbling riffs, booming bass, a dust-dry sound and a suffering voice define the sound on The Wandering Warrior. Sometimes very doomy, then again full of rock, the tracks shuffle and stomp along. Multi-instrumentalist Fabrizio Monni remains purely instrumental for minutes at a time and does not use his hoarse, plaintive timbre excessively. Evocative and ponderous, the music slows down in a pleasant way. The riff repetitions have a lulling effect and so the pulse automatically lowers as the performance progresses. Only occasionally do cool desert riffs get the blood pumping and the desperate, latently angry vocals pull us out of the tranquil scenario. In general, the songs remain at a similar tempo, do without catchy choruses and give the impression of an intense yet uniform sound colossus. After a while, the listener is automatically bobbing along to the same beat - so you quickly feel at home, but also lost in monotony.
More dynamic variation would not have hurt the pieces - the Doom-Head stumbles over many similar riffs and motifs, which are well-known groovy, but seem tedious in the long run.
