This is the first demo of ARS IRAE from bavaria, but it´s already one year old. They play a rather simple black metal style, but still, it´s not at all boring or monotonous. The speed is varied several times in every song. The vocals are moving between black metal screams and dark growls. There are also some Thrash and Death Metal elements in the music, but the general mood of the record is absolutely black metallic. But despite all rawness, it´s not an album full of pure hatred. The atmosphere ARS IRAE create is rather dark romantic. In some of the slow, atmospheric parts, they even have some melodic background vocals – but don´t panic, there are no keyboards! By the way, the sound is absolutely okay for a demo. Two of the three songs (if you don´t count the intro) are in german language, the third one in english. Unfortunately, the lyrics are a bit ridiculous, I´d say they are horror tales for little kids, sometimes with a pseudo-tragic touch. On the other hand, it´s good to see that the band doesn´t use “evil” pseudonyms and panda make-up. But let´s forget about the lyrics, because I have to say that Ignis Fatuus is a rather promising demo. Go on like that (and improve your lyrics), gentlemen!
