Death Metal with Core touch and German lyrics – has the musical world waited for this act? ANGELS AND ENEMIES do not start a revolution, but they are another entertaining band amidst the countless metal/core mass.

The vocals are as usual screeched in aggressive manner, every now and then a clear pitch comes into operation. A lot of pressure and drive features the songs, which will show real power on stage to enthuse fans of modern melodic heaviness. I can see the moshpit before my inner eye while listening to tunes like Bei Nacht (Die Meute). Thereby the lead guitar nearly sings a continuous melody, the very melodic solo forms a contrast to the aggression. Unfortunately I miss the last kick for downright direct hits, but ANGELS AND ENEMIES know how to compose. Sometimes they operate in more complex way (the track Augenblicke offers a lot of measure changes); sometimes pure energy takes on the lead. I like the calm breathers like the instrumental piece Ad Fontes, because the heaviness of the following song Vollendet gets boosted by this tactics. Besides, the composition combines different vocal styles felicitously. Cool!

Gttkmplx only misses outstanding moments apart from the vocals in the title :) but the album convinces me with a refreshing presentation and a certain complexity. I do not know if this is enough to succeed against the nameless competitors...
