Hailing from Denmark, ANGANTYR (sole member and playing all instruments/vocals: Ynleborgaz. Try saying that three times fast in a row...), is presenting us his 5th full-length album Forvist. 7 solid, epic, raw Black Metal numbers, sweeping melodies, a clear production and riffs that are sawing themselves into your ears. Lyrically the album is about the story of a Scandinavian warrior sailing from his homeland seeking to avenge the murder of his family by Christians. There aren't that many Black Metal bands out there that manage to put together songs that make your heart ache with the beautiful melancholic melodies they invoke. The only reason this album only gets 8 points from me is simply that the new material isn't as good as his previous ones. It doesn't stand up to his 2007 album Haevn, which almost made me weep with its beautifully crafted songs. Forvist takes a bit longer to open up, and there isn't that much diversity. There are barely any slow parts, but then the melodies make up for this.
