Imagine that you are walking through the mountains during a heavy thunderstorm; the rain - later hail - pours down on you like a drumfire... then, suddenly, for no apparent reason, the cloud cover breaks open and the sun shines, a rainbow appears and you are soaked and flattened by the forces of nature.
Exactly this alternating bath of extremes is what ANAAL NATHRAKH are preparing for you on their current masterpiece Endarkenment. Unleashed drums, insane vocals and heavy grooves are clumping together to a huge acoustic storm, which is sweeping over you because of its intensity, which draws its vehemence from Grindcore and Black Metal, and lets you gasp for breath after a few seconds.
Already the opening title song turns out to be a detonating bull's eye, because the chorus reaches a dizzyingly high level of catchiness. The extravagant clear voice stands in harsh contrast to the otherwise furious extreme rhythms and the well-balanced, animalistic screaming vocals. The tactics with blasting parts, fierce vocals, whipping grooves and then sudden clear voice does not miss its effect and chases alternately showers of harmony and astonishment over the body. At this point, irrepressible tempo, crazy vocal arrangements and gentle moments meet so rich in contrast and yet wonderfully fitting together that at the end of this album manifesto you can only try to calm your elevated pulse and get your adrenaline levels back to normal.
ANAAL NATHRAKH dare a reckless combination and win all along the line - never would I have thought that Grindcore-based Metal could be presented as interesting and intelligent as on Endarkenment. This work impresses in a damn strong and sophisticated way!
