Life is like a long, calm river with some dangerous twists - and ALDA provide the perfect soundtrack! Wonderfully harmonic, crystal clear guitars accompany us together with soft vocals on the first piece of the journey called Scattered On The Wind. We enjoy the peaceful, contemplative atmosphere on this nostalgic trip, which we experienced almost ten years ago with the original ticket. Many things look familiar to us and it is nice to refresh the memory of these wonderfully epic sound landscapes.
We are just sitting back, relaxed, as the company takes a rapid turn and the pace increases enormously. Fimbulwinter brings out a rougher facet of harsh growls and melodic black metal. Variety is the trump card on this foray, as groovy rhythms and jagged passages now come together during The Seed And The Hailstone, with the melodies unfolding their splendor somewhat more hidden in the background. Buzzing and sometimes cascade-like swelling, the epic Vail flows elegantly and highly melodic before the finale resembles a rapid descent and comes up with exciting attacks. Uffta-beats and earthy scrawny guitars determine the next stage Venom In The Waters, before the pleasure tour ends with The Evergreen Womb all too early in a variable manner.
ALDA offer us a wide range on their re-released debut, because reserved parts with a warm voice can be found here as well as rebellious elements including growls. Even then, the enormous potential that was to manifest itself with the following works :Tahoma: and Passage could be recognized.
