Avantgarde Music sent their new Symphonic Black Metal gem, AEON WINDS from Slovakia, clearly living up to the heritage of bands like Limbonic Art. And Stormveiled has everything – from atmospheric parts to Nordic chants, harsh blackened vocals and cleans, acoustic guitars and raging Black Metal. Beyond All Empty Places is a great example, as this song has everything mentioned above. I have to admit, while listening to the album in my car, where the radio always fucks up the order of the songs, I didn‘t like it that much. I found the keyboard sounds cheap and there are too many of those ambient and quieter parts. Luckily, for writing the review, I always listen to the album the way the band intends and it revealed some secrets. It Is Beneath Where The Mountains Sing – here the keyboards still sound a little cheesy to me, but all in all, the album is very good at what it is. Stormveiled is no re-invention of the wheel; AEON WINDS just share with us their vision of melodic Black Metal. The production is fitting for this style, not too clean but everything you need is shining through. Definitely an album for cold winter nights, warm fireside and headphones.
