Typical old school death as it's written in the book, that's exactly what ABYSMAL WINDS from Sweden offer and nothing else. Advantage: you immediately feel at home in the soundscape and don't have to be afraid of modern experiments or clean vocals. Disadvantage: the lack of surprising ideas. Of course we hear intense growls, groovy passages (particularly effective on World Cadaver or the final title track) and plenty of uffta beats, but a bit of innovation or the one or other acoustic surprise would be desirable in addition to the headbang guarantee for lasting customer loyalty.
