Germany's
eclectic metallers of divine creativity THE OCEAN merge
to the surface with their latest Precambrian. One
has to admit this release is something of a different musical
entity considering the creation process of it all. Upon listening
to the first CD consisting of 5 tracks my listening adventure
was abruptly stopped due to the inactive musical response. I mean
come on... hardcore vocals with some symphonic flair sound should
never be allowed. Nothing memorable about this first half of Hadean/Archaean
for a band trying to achieve what? Something with geological lyrical
references? Please! Now we shall mention the better half of Precambrain
that had the senses soaring with Proterozoic. From
beginning to the end this side reveals powerfully written songs
blending melodic touches along with fiery energy as displayed
with tracks Rhyacian, Ectasian and Tonian. Taking
the lyrical process one has to really put themselves in a complex
place trying to figure out what is being told, but nonetheless
the music and words blend well together achieving something different
on all fronts. So if different and indifferent speak to your listening
taste buds then this band is for you.
