SQUEALER
offers a few trademarks to surprise or even enthuse also those
fans normally disliking powerful Thrash Metal. At first I would
name the convenient voice of Norbert Vornam presenting the ear
catching tunes in a variable style. In addition he acts in a similar
intense manner as Iced Earth’s singer Matt Barlow.
Furthermore,
SQUEALER takes off with the two steam hammers The Sources
Of Ignition and the irresistible Mask Of The Betrayer.
The band has got the right feeling for a balanced mixture of unleashed,
partly dark-dusky power and catchy tunes. Every now and then,
the handbrake is pulled a little without sounding weakly. Best
example for this tactics is the sluggishly starting piece New
Saviour, proving the band’s self-confidence to use the
whole range of speed being totally convinced by played style.
Over and above, the outstanding as well as alternated semi-ballads
Grey and Once Fallen enthuse by their dynamics and
harmonious compositions; relaxed passages get intertwined with
incredible power, causing the build-up of fine suspense curves.
In contrast, SQUEALER plays aggressive songs like the accentuated
sung Godlike or the adequately entitled Thrasher.
Eventually the album gets closed with the final composition The
Circle Shuts comprising all forces, leaving behind a more
than pleased listener.
Finally, SQUEALER
manages to sound persuasive and authentic, presenting a felicitous
work offering a broad spectrum to attract the listener’s
attention.
Consequently I hope that the musical circle has not been closed
yet and we will get a chance to listen to more SQUEALER
releases in a similar quality.
