SCUM
- upon hearing this you are either thinking: gross, dirty, grimy,
sickening, disgusting sewers...OR! You think of the biggest thing
to hit the European metal scene in over a decade. In 2002, several
friends say down to make musical history: Casey Chao(Amen), Samoth
(ex-Emperor, Zyklon), Faust (ex-Emperor), Cosmocrater (Mindgrinder)
and Happy Tom (Turbonegro); each person being respective members
of their own musical scenes, coming together to re-write the definition
of Heavy Metal.
You know how metal
people and punk people generally don't get along? Well, its time
to throw that ideal out the bloody window. Next punk I see, I'm
gonna go hug him... not really but this album is badass. We all
know Samoth is a black metal god; well, now he’s just a
god. The fretwork at an all-time level of badass. Moving on to
drums - Faust, that’s all you need to know that the drums
on this album is gonna be great! Samoth and Faust together for
the first time in over a decade - hell yea! Casey Chaos has not
always been my favourite vocalist, but like I said earlier about
punks and metallers being friends, I'm trying to keep an open
mind. His vocal style is a defining addition to the sound and
structure that make up this powerhouse. Happy Tom - he doesn't
look very happy to me, but this Turbonegro veteran is right at
home with his bass work here. Taking a break from the Mindgrinding
- Cosmocrater and his badass self make up the other half of the
guitar assault. Cosmocrater and Samoth, longtime friends, make-up
one awesome guitar arsenal. Cosmocrater's brutal abilities and
Samoth's uncanny ability to hold together the most unrelenting
rhythms possible. 5 masters of their craft and genres, coming
together to make one awesome album. Some people have called this
project black'n'roll, death punk, and some stupid ones have called
it musical blasphemy. But call it what you want - it doesn't matter
anyway, cause this is untouchable. Now go buy it, damn it!
