SARGATANAS
REIGN formed in 1997, under the name of Sargatanas as a
traditional black metal act. After a few years of growing musically
and a line-up change, they released their first effort in 2001 Hallucination.
This release sold out very quickly! A year later they released their
first full length album Euthanasia… Last Resort.
Now armed with a new vocalist, they are ready to release their latest
full length Bloodwork.
Preface an
introduction of torture; samples from deadly, disgusting scenes
from who knows where, enlightens you on things to come; which
is a fast, brutal look at what death could possibly be if your
path should ever cross this band. Leading into track 2 Techniques
Of Tourture this just goes to show you that I wasn't lying
when I told you this band was fast and deadly. Chaos Theory
(3) - this is where your mind goes after the first signs of shock
start to set in; you're in that semi-paralyzed state where you
have no clue what’s going on. All you can process is the
chaotic racket that is emitting from your stereo. You are now
starting to get over the shock when track 4 Silver starts up,
and you are now getting into the groove of things. You have the
unbelievable urge to bang your head, and run around bashing yourself
into the nearest person or parked car. Now that the album has
fully gotten your attention (well it actually did that with the
first track), you are now no longer able to comprehend anything
other than this beautiful manifesto of surrealistic bliss. Track
6 Hellnation takes this band to a whole different level
when they add in some jazz-worthy bass lines and some guitar work
that would put some of the 80's metal guitarists to shame (e.g.
Eddie Van Halen, Ted Nugent, etc.). Now that track 7 Blood
Katharsis has made its appearance, you are now in that state
where you are in such a feeling of utter bliss that everything
is beginning to slow down. This track takes a slower approach;
making this album gives you all the effects of a truly wonderful
feeling of disgust for the human race. Raging anger fuelled by
sadist bursts, mellow outpourings of thoughts that you had no
clue whether to do these vile acts or commit yourself into an
insane asylum, and then back to the anger-filled explosions. Track
9 Blindfolder kicks in and lets you know that the nice
feeling has now left and you must do what you have to do to get
the job done. Kevlar Throat brings back those amazing
solos back to kick you in the teeth! What a truly genre-defying
band. Taking lessons from the 80's guitar masters, Jazz bass lines,
drum lines that would make Hellhammer go "damn!", and
a concept as deadly as anything Cannibal Corpse could ever dream
of. Not only is this band great at putting on a show, but it’s
just a badass band! For anyone with musical tastes that go along
with Behemoth, Morbid Angel and Deicide, this band is just for
you then! Making passers-by squirm with discomfort and making
you feel just damn happy, this is a truly amazing thrill-ride!
