MASSEMORD
return with their fourth album, 12 Years Of Mass Murder.
After two successful albums off Blackmetal.com Records, Skogen
Kaller and Obscura Symphonia,
this album shows MASSEMORD with a more aggressive
agenda, displaying heavy, death-influenced guitar work. Myer’s
Revenge immediately launches the CD into motion, with a stop
and go riff that repeatedly hits you like a club in the face. Next,
after a small drum intro, The Majesty Of The North delivers
a fast, death metal-style riff while Der Henker’s distinctive
voice litters the chaos. Track 4, Hell, has an uplifting,
almost comical melody in the beginning, but the torrent of guitar
riffing and violent screams make up for its earlier levity. Other
highlights include the haunting guitar picking on Skogen Kaller
og vi Svarer 2, the eerie, carnival-esque intro to Blood
Of The Wolf, and Eternal War (Live), which sounds
acutely like the original. Overall, this album is an unyielding
progression for the band, and fans of their earlier releases will
not be disappointed. |
