No doubt,
a band who take their name from a subterranean lake in Antarctica
and apparently like puns (see song titles), can only produce interesting
music.
Indeed, the opening track Humanitix shows us what's to
expect from Destruction Time Again.
LOCH VOSTOK emerged from the remains of Mayadome,
and releases their debut album Dark Logic
in 2004.
On the new album Destruction Time Again
the Swedes present Progressive Metal that integrates the best
attributes of Black- and Death Metal. Yes, this is definitely
possible and remarkable because LOCH VOSTOK are
primarily a Progressive band and stick to their original style
throughout the album.
Xerox Nation kicks off with a decent Black Metal intro;
Falself and True Deciever bear the intensity
of Death Metal inside. All songs show great composing skills and
a fine sense for songwriting in general, which you can witness
and enjoy at every single turnover and bridging between the basically
contrasting musical styles.
Rebound, Autumn Lord, Jonestown Slumber
Party, etc. are pure Progressive Metal of the interesting
and experimental kind.
Clear vocals and growls often alter within one song, yet never
in disharmony, which contributes further to the variability of
the whole album.
Don't miss Destruction Time Again; it
is one of few highly interesting and musically relevant outputs!
