Time has come
to split skulls again! And the deadly precision exhibited again
by KRISIUN is damned frightening. Even if Southern
Storm means to be the seventh studio album by now, the
Brazilian’s won’t become lazy in any way. Furthermore
you will get the impression that the sound played exactly to the
point is edged and improved by nuances. Every track has its own
character. If KRISIUN manage to repeat them, than at the
most in failure of redefining the wheel named brutality. But they
are able to push their sound in border again and again just to
let them crack under this massive pressure. Sure, the typical
KRISIUN trademarks don’t give a shit on any borders.
Slaying Steel, Sentenced Morning, Bleeding Offers or Twisting
Sights carry definitely hit potential. Riffs sharp as razorblades
pave the way for ultra fast blastbeats and in combination with
the excellent song structures these tracks mutate to real neck-breaker.
Instead of pushing the speed continuous the tempo is cleverly
changed by awesome breaks just to go through with the Death Metal
cudgel in the next moment. If the for KRISIUN relations
„slower“ parts prevail like heard in Minotaur
or Contradictions Of Decay (the next highlight, what a
fuckin’ awesome combination of blast, riff and forced midtempo)
an ingenious staginess and shockwave is build up. Enthralling
the riff in Sons Of Pest is – Fight Fire With Fire
on Death Metal?! The high-class solo parts and in the consequence
the high technical level contains just one little crisis: the
cover version of Sepultura’s Refuse/Resist is absolutely
felicitous, compared to the original it sounds just nice. But
the Southern Storm can’t be slowed by this
– this one ravage without mercy. A big thank you goes out
to Andy Classen and the Stage One Studio – this sound kills!
That’s how brutal and uncompromising Death Metal has to
be! No question: those who want to take on with the Southern
Storm have to dig damned deep in the bag of tricks. A
must-have!
