The first time I got to know about EXOTHERM was on the Visions Of Metal Compilation II. My review about the sampler and ergo about the band attracted attention by the band itself whereupon they have sent their first and self-financed album Project 47 to our office, which is now object of acrobatic word formations.
To cut a long story short: EXOTHERM rocks as hell! Power Metal of first class, with sense for melodies and intelligent arrangements. Anywhere I have read something about Rage influences. Is not really wrong as long as you turn the time back about 15 years. Already opener Believe In God captivates you, spreads good vibrations and let your head bang enthusiastically. But the intro … was that taken from anywhere? I mean, is it a known theme? However, it’s all with aggressive chord progressions, guitar wise, full of energy and especially the voice of singer Georg Laudenberg gives an agile touch to the music. But who sings tracks like Thoughts Like Poison and What To Think with a voice Daniel Brennare (Lake Of Tears) could not have sung it better? Bass player Alexander Braikrats? Next outstanding song has to be It’s Time, which again has such a known melody, at least to me. Is that a cover version? If not, wow, guys you got it! And at all, great songs, good production and that’s all on the very first self-financed record! I take my hat off! And YOU should listen to Project 47!
