For some reason I feel that the bands calling themselves “Epic-Metal” (and other related connotations) have been abusing for a while.
Often you see how they dwell between inconsistence, failed hybrids of Heathen, Epic, Power and other shite that never works.
But I am damn glad this is not the case of the band ELEXORIEN.
It’s been a fucking long while for me to find such a well balanced (not to mention well-calibrated) combination of powerful riffs, female and male vocals and over all great craftsmanship when the time of going faster comes.
Now, this album is not perfect, but in highs and low moments it sounds real, which is the fundamental reason that makes this album a nice experience to the listener.
The sound in this self-titled release is (as it well should) clean yet powerful, it lets all the notes and elements flow together without any omissions, although the drums sound kind of “flat” at times. Overall the engineering appeals to the music completely.
ELEXORIEN has an interesting management of melody, roughness (when necessary) in combination with fast-paced rhythms with different changes throughout the record. Some songs surprise more than others but I’d say The Curse, Running With The Wolves Of War and Dryads & Trolls are tunes that define very well the battle spirit of this Dutchmen.
Join ELEXORIEN in battle if you enjoy the legends of ancient times, combined with power, melody and content.
