CHRONICLE OF TYRANTS is a German band that, as most decent bands, never had anything easy.
The band was formed in Diepholz (north-western region of Germany) by Carsten, Manu and Marco in February 2002. They were somehow bored of their local environment so they decided to start making music.
As many other bands, CHRONICLE OF TYRANTS how crappy is to lack of a place for rehearsal, until 2002 when they finally got a place to do their stuff, then wrote and released their first demo entitled Mental Decay in October 2003.
After some lineup changes, they started the recording of Nemesis MMIV in October 2004.
Nemesis MMIV is awesome for a debut album, highly influenced in sound and composition by bands like Hypocrisy or Edge Of Sanity.
With this album CHRONICLE OF TYRANTS proves that has a mind of its own, they also found out how to make their songs sound powerful, with heart and intensity.
Great pace and variation, intelligent musical composition and most of all, great melodic death metal vibe is what we can find in Nemesis MMIV.
The songs in Nemesis MMIV are completely influenced by Swedish Death Metal, and CHRONICLE OF TYRANTS do not hesitate on displaying their own version of this, making songs that, respecting and paying tribute to their major influence, never lose authenticity and personality.
Songs like Quest For Substance, Lifeless, Cerebral Assassin and of course Nemesis can give you the picture of this band’s power, and future potential (remember, this is their debut album.)
Nemesis MMIV could lack of variation at some point, but for those who love Death Metal, it’s going to be pure glory, since all the songs have different changes, great guitar riffs, awesome drum performance and of course, great blackened vocals that make this album a complete delight.
The time of the Tyrant has come.
