Getting the chance to listen to a new album that is refreshing, the band CHARON is a band that strikes me more on the lines of melodic Metal Rock with a twist of hidden Goth underlines. Guitar and vocal workings with first track Failed gives a perfect blend of both harmonies that go well together. Juda-Pekka shows a range that can be put more into a powerhouse vocal style resonance wise. CHARON’s sound can be compared to the bands of The 69 Eyes, Tea Party meets Queensryche but on a metal oriented front, where guitar work and overall instrumental presentation on the new album is measureless. On the song In Brief War, there is more of a toned down version of Jeff Tate vocals, as keyboards and harmonies give the essence of an unusual mixture of completion. Unbreak, Unchain, shows more of depth that can be expressed with feelings of letting go but yet holding on to what once was. Every Failure, beginning with a mystic recorded approach catches the attention of the rhythm but as the song progresses, it is like the rest of the album keeping low tone showing the side of CHARON’s melodic blend of music that is not Gothic like some misinterpret the band sound for. Asides from current changes within CHARON the band still knows what to put out. Band is on tour in support of The Dying Daylights that is to take them well into the new year. Album shows great recorded finesse production that is done well giving more to the listener that CHARON is a band that is one to soon to be one more of a international level soon. Good work CHARON ;)!
