2008-04-14 GB – London - Underworld

The promised spring release of WARRIOR SOUL’s new record emerged as a live album, recorded during the UK shows in spring and winter 2007. A brand new regular record is slated to be released later this year ;)
However, the band luckily used the opportunity of the release of Live In England to play a handful of shows again. Same procedure as every year... the shows took place on my favorite isle, of course. Europe is small and cheap airlines just… cheap. So I quickly decided to add the Stockholm show too under my belt. I’ve never been in Sweden before, so this country needed to be discovered ;)
Plus… it was announced that WARRIOR SOUL would play the entire Last Decade Dead Century album during the London show as a special event *drools* Any questions…? *lol*

I just wish the prepossessing chaos would have failed to appear this time. No idea how it all happens… seems like I can’t operate the simple way, or as planned, or just in a normal way… *sighs*
Ok, first shock caught up with me on Sunday, before I even had my stuff packed, letting me know, that the UK shows might not take place due to visa problems with Kory’s second band THE STONED, who was supposed to support WARRIOR SOUL on this short tour. What happened can be read here. I tried to rebook or to go directly to Sweden… no chance; I had to go as planned first. Well, London can keep me busy one day without a show too ;)

At the end things worked out well, the show in London took place and after some more chaos in London I for the first enjoyed :: NEW GENERATION SUPERSTARS ::, a band from the Midlands that kicked off on time in front of a handful of fans. These cats gave us a Crash Course... In Rock'n'Roll from their debut record. Classic rock’n’roll with a punkish attitude and crispy riff work. Wouldn’t call it groundbreaking, but the guys had fun on stage playing and that’s something that easily infects the audience, creating this special kind of atmosphere and party feeling ;) Most songs came from the above mentioned debut that stirred the scene at least in UK.
Setlist: Done Before, Own Sweet Hell, Come Over, White Trash, Way Back Home, Always Gonna Be, Bleed, Dopefiend, Do It Cus I Can, Overload

:: WARRIOR SOUL :: and especially Kory Clark were still and noticeably full of anger about what happened with The Stoned. All band members seemed to be close to burst, spreading a huge amount of energy and aggression. Now I can imagine how the show in Dudley went, faces and Kory’s voice spoke volumes. What I heard, the show must have been legendary.

Ok, back to London and the Underworld: as it happened in 2007, the venue was suddenly very crowded, in a twinkling of an eye. And I still don’t know where all the people came from ;) However, the new t-shirts sold like hotcakes, no girlies though, but I did one myself, what went down well. Should think about an own longsleeve ;)
As for the introducing part nothing has changed so far: intro and then Interzone, Love Destruction and Punk And Beligerant following. Afterwards a short trip to the Space Age Playboys (No, No, No), leading over to the entire Last Decade Dead Century record. First time completely played since 1991. It goes without saying what great moments that have been... Introduced by Kory with: „now we get emotional“. my personal highlight surely was Lullaby. Gooseflesh all over. Just great! *sighs*
These shows also mark the live debut of new bass player Janne Jarvis (also in Hate Gallery), where… *amazed?*… WARRIOR SOUL axe-man Rille also pulls the strings by now! Hmm… and Johnny H joins The Stoned? *lol* Anyway, without reducing the work Mike did in the band Janne significantly adds more power and groove to the music and acts much livelier onto stage. Next to Rille and Janne rampaging the stage, now guitarist Johnny H almost goes a bit under.
Once again an amazing show! Thx & cheers for all that pleasure! I really enjoyed the evening!
Setlist: Intro, Interzone, Love Destruction, Punk And Beligerant, No No No, I See The Ruins, We Cry Out, Losers, Downtown, Trippin' On Ecstasy, Super Power Dreamland, Charlie's Out Of Prison, Blown Away, Lullaby, In Conclusion // The Drug, Let’s Get Wasted, Shuck Um Down, Party, Punk Rock’n’Roll // Wasteland

As usual on a Monday evening the crowd got swept extremely fast, forcing the WARRIOR SOUL entourage once again to stop at Intrepid Fox ;) Guess what, we all had a hell of a party, literally, and… we promptly got our just deserts, while really suffering from hangovers *lol* Plus… we had to catch our flights to Stockholm. I was the first one to take off. Drunk and with a huge hangover I at least made it to the airport (just to get told that the flight was delayed for 4 hrs at the end)… Anyway, I got me flight :P
